Observations continued

While walking Jack, I've been paying closer attention to the plant life of the neighborhood. There's a particularly lovely yard on the corner of the University/Benbrook intersection. It reminds me of a wilder version of the Secret Garden. There are so many different plants and flowers - I think this house also might be responsible for the sunflowers that grew haphazardly on the corner last year.  I haven't gotten around to plant-snapping the images yet but I did stop to appreciate the nature, and I'm pretty sure I've seen the whitish one at the Botanic gardens before...

^They even have pine needles! They reminded me a lot of being home in Alabama where we have pine and oak trees surrounding our yard. We also used to have boxwoods, which I noticed in my neighbors yard! My parents were much better at keeping theirs looking boxy with regular pruning - but that's adults for you! I don't think my neighbors or my household are quite to yardcare level of adulting yet. I also noticed some sort of vine winding through, probably siphoning nutrients from the boxwoods. I've always thought vines were rather pretty even though I suppose they're rather parasitic plants. This one has really pretty flowers, though!

  1. Thanks for continuing your observations of flora and fauna around you. I am pretty sure the purple flower above is a morning glory. Your neighbors have good taste in flowers. for most of my life plants were always part of the background, and I never studied horticulture. Now I am much more curious about them. A friend gave me three plants for my office, and I am determined to keep them alive and growing. Do hope you are feeling better.
