Quickie Nature Siting Update!!

You can definitely tell that I'm swamped with work in other classes because I think I've posted more this week than the rest of the semester. I've always been what I've termed a "productive procrastinator," meaning I tend to prioritize vaguely productive things like cleaning my house or doing work for a class I prefer (hehe oops) when I'm stressed about much more pressing work in say... biochemistry... Ok I PROMISE I'm going to stop talking about biochemistry on my blog. Someone please call me out if I use the words "really" or "biochemistry" after this post!

Anyway, just a lil update from yesterday that I forgot. Please enjoy this cute little baby opossum I saw outside last night!! I got almost close enough to pet it before my friend flipped out because apparently wild animals carry "rabies" and petting them is a "dumb idea" (Just let me be one with nature, okay!! I mean honestly, no one ever admonished disney princesses when they had woodland creature friends. Let me live my disney princess life!!!)

I thought I was having a rough week but apparently it's been a worse one for the squirrels. First the sky is falling (see previous post) and now... :(

***content warning rly sad poor dead squirrel***

Feel free to let me know if this is to morbid but I thought it was kind of cool; I mean it's just the natural carbon cycle. RIP this poor lil baby but now he'll get to be compost + provide some nutrients for the soil to grow some healthy grass or pretty flowers! (Or maybe my biology-attuned brain is just weird, idk)

Please excuse my morning ramblings. I hope everyone has a lovely Thursday!

  1. Not morbid at all, though I do grieve to see the remains of squirrels and other creatures squished dead in the road. The remains above will probably be chewed on and eaten before he is completely returned to carbon. I loved the opossum photo. I am partial to opossum and squirrels that share our urban environments, and coyote, foxes, and hawks that are also unseen for the most part in our cities.
