Good morning Sunshines!

When I signed up for this course, I didn't anticipate how much nature-appreciation I would do from various inside locations. It's so interesting to see how much COVID has changed daily functioning, even in just six months. Reflecting, I think the current conditions of my environment make this class even more impactful/important to me. With all my classes online, it's easy to fall into a routine cycling between work, class, and studying (the last of which mostly occurs at home since I'm not super comfortable within the crowded coffee shops I previously preferred). The presence of "nature observation" and "blog post" on my bullet-journaled to-do list has become a needed stimulus, whether I'm called to venture outdoors, to reflect on previous adventures or to simply notice the nature in my current environment.

After class yesterday, I headed out for a walk that turned into a run because it felt so nice outside. I stayed in the general TCU area/Greek loop so I mostly saw a lot of cultivated greenery.

Still, 45 mins of being outdoors had a huge effect on my day, even though the sun wasn't out. I was thinking about someone's (sorry I don't remember whose it was!) post mentioning the correlation between weather and mood. I definitely feel a tangible sense of joy when I experience a lovely sunny day or a cozy sense of comfort in the rain. Still, I'm consistently uplifted just by stepping outdoors, even on an overcast day like yesterday.

Honestly, I'm a little miffed at TCU for cancelling all the 3-day weekends and scheduling class on Saturdays. They're really cutting into my wilderness time! I'll strive to be content with cultivated sidewalks for now and keep dreaming of days like these...

  1. Another wonderful post. I'm grateful. Loved your photos too. We go outside often for comfort, a refuge away from the daily burdens we all carry. This is essentially what HDT was recommending in "Walking," only he took the idea a lot further. Nature was truly his Holy Land, filled with spiritual insights. We just have to open our hearts and minds to find them.
